Karen Worthy Grant Phase 2

Back on Solid Ground

Get families back on solid ground.

The wildfires that affected Spokane in August left many of our neighbors facing tremendous challenges.

But what stood out was the way this community came together: helping neighbors, supporting families, and showing what Spokane is all about.

Building on the generosity of Walt and Karen Worthy, Gonzaga University men’s basketball head coach Mark Few has proudly launched a fund for the next phase of the Karen Worthy Memorial Wildfire Grant, helping families who are rebuilding their homes, and their lives, right here in our community.

The Karen Worthy Grant Phase 2: Back on Solid Ground Fund helps residents whose primary home was destroyed in the Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview wildfires ("Spokane Complex" fire) take the first steps toward rebuilding here at home. The fund helps cover permitting costs to ensure a property is safe and approved for building — a need that other relief efforts in our community are not currently meeting. Support is based on need, as determined through a disaster case management process, so that dollars go furthest for families with the fewest resources.

We hope you’ll consider joining us and supporting these families in the weeks ahead. Please click here to make a gift.

The application process is being coordinated by the Spokane Region Long Term Recovery Group. For questions about applying for permitting assistance through this fund, contact WorthyGrant@SRLTRG.org.

Thank you, Spokane.
